“For over twenty years, I’ve developed hands-on workshops and visiting-artist engagements for universities, art schools, and independent arts programs. I shape each visit around the participants, available facilities, and the host’s goals, combining as appropriate a public talk, demonstrations, making sessions, critiques, and studio visits.”
Code as a material for artists through rule-based systems, generative image and sound, live visuals, and experimental interfaces. Creative and critical approaches to artificial intelligence and synthetic media attend to artistic agency, material translation, and the ways computational processes enter studio practice.
Hands-on exploration of how CNC routers, laser cutters, and other digital fabrication tools can participate in traditional matrix-based printmaking. Workshops connect custom drawing tools, laser-engraved matrices, and traditional print processes. Sessions can be tailored to available equipment and participants’ prior experience.
Sound as a material for making work in physical and virtual space, with attention to its physical presence as vibration, resonance, and movement through bodies, objects, and environments. Hands-on exploration may include microphones, field and contact recording, digital editing and synthesis, installation, performance, and relationships among authorship, audience, and participation.
Conceptual and technical approaches to projection as image, illumination, and a material for shaping space, time, and audience experience in installation and performance. Workshop formats can range from beginner-level projection fundamentals to advanced, site-responsive work using TouchDesigner, projection mapping, surfaces, mirrors, and multiple-projector systems.
Workshops may range from a single session to a multi-day intensive. Some software, critique, and professional practice workshops can be delivered via zoom, though in-person is preferred when possible. A visiting-artist engagement can also include an artist talk, undergraduate or graduate critiques, class visits, and conversations with faculty or programs.
